Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Talk about blowing your own trumpet. There’s not much more to the hoop petticoat daff (Narcissus bulbocodium) than its great long schnoz – that whopping fused corona that quite literally leaves the six spindly petals in the shade. Charming rather than beautiful, almost with something of the sea-creature about it, it’s a great inclusion for rockeries or for naturalising in grass. Just when you think you’ve seen it all with narcissus, along pops something new.
