Day 156: new beds

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

The sky, wary of spoiling us with a surfeit of sunshine, decided to dump a few week’s worth of rain on us yesterday but, with everything underfoot having had a fortnight to achieve some measure of solidity, I decided to garden through it. I’ve been waiting for a chance to dig out a new bed and, too wet to weed or to clip hedges, once I’d got the strimming out of the way it was back to the familiar rhythm of lifting turf and flopping it into the barrow. Carving our gardening intentions into the ground – there’s nothing quite like it.
