Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Things have taken a turn for the inclement over the past day or two. Jumpers have been pressed back into service – hats and scarves have even made an appearance – not that it’s freakishly cold for the time of year, just that, having been lulled into a spell of warm September sunshine, the change has seemed abrupt. Foliage is turning in the borders too, but many of the roses are still sending out instructions to their extremities to pump out the blossom. Scepter’d Isle, one of my favourites and the first shrub rose encountered on entering the garden, is showing few signs of calling it quits for the year. Long may it continue into October.
