Day 76: nearly tulips

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

It feels as though it’s been an age coming, but today there was sunshine, sparkles and the very real prospect of tulips (notwithstanding that rogue individual we met on Day 66). I couldn’t help myself from peering intently into the heart of the foliage now enthusiastically taking up space in the borders, just to see how the flowers are coming along. Quite nicely, thank you, as it turns out. Can you have tulips in winter? It seems wrong, somehow; while daffodils manage to bridge the liminal zone with ease, those lovely, daft, brash lollipops can only belong to spring. Are we nearly there yet?
