Red stems. A dusting of white frost. When all else in the garden is looking a bit drab, and even the light has taken on a kind of blue-grey tone, there’s nothing quite like the dogwood to make a trip into the January garden worthwhile. Plant in groups and cut stems of Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ down to the ground in early spring to be sure of the brightest colours in your winter border next year.
