Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
My garden is absolutely full of love-in-a-mist (Nigella damascena) just now. It’s hugely gratifying, and looks as though the whole place has been artfully planted with just a touch of added whimsy, by someone with a sensitive eye well-practised in the art of looking entirely unpractised. Of course, what really happened was that I flung some seeds about – doubtless cadged from a friend with an excess of the stuff – about ten years ago, and let nature do the rest. I suppose I have weeded and thinned things a bit. I’m sure that made all the difference.
