Day 213: broken bird bath

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

It’s been years since this bird bath has actually held any water – I’m sure there must be some kind of resin I can use to fix the crack but, till then, thirsty birds are catered for elsewhere in the garden. In the meantime, it’s the perfect staging post between greenhouse and just about anywhere else, so that one day it might have a tray of 9cm pots balancing on it or, as now, an assortment of potted pelargoniums unceremoniously stuffed into the bowl. I’m not sure quite how I ever fitted so many in, from nine o’clock clockwise there are pelargoniums sidoides, ‘Friesdorf’, crispum ‘Variagatum’, ‘Vectis Allure’, ‘Jip’s Bunjy’ and ‘Shannon’.
