Day 354: December rain

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Local fields, Christmas 2013

By all that’s good and right and holy, December in this part of the world should be cold and crisp and clear. In my experience, December rarely pays any notice to this doctrine, and churns out one mild, dull and wet day after another. This year is no exception, though we’ve not quite got to the stage we reached over Christmas in 2013. That year saw the end of our beautiful lavender hedge, which might have been able to put up with my neglectful pruning regime, but was decidedly unimpressed at having its roots submerged in icy water for a week over winter. Another few days of the wet stuff, by all accounts, and then we can settle in for some cold weather, and maybe even a frost. Just as it should be.

A year of garden coaching

I’m very excited about my new venture – it’s a way for me to work with more people than I can physically get around to, helping them to make the very best of their gardens in a way that suits the life they lead. If you’d like to find out more, please click here to book for a January 2020 start.
