Day 359: the tree

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

As the years passed, I began to feel a bit sorry for the tree on Christmas day. Uprooted, stuck in a pot, shoved in a corner of a room and bedecked with lights and tinsel and all manner of wotnot while odd human creatures rush about displaying behaviours characteristic of varying levels of stress, before falling asleep in front of a strangely glowing box of moving pictures. How bewildering – and to have to experience this on your own. As the indoor jungle in our home grows, at least I feel the tree has some company – if not quite of its own genus, at least of the same kingdom. And this year’s efforts to find a tree still in possession of a root system, together with the intention to grow our fragrant friend on in its container, mean it can come and visit its new indoor family next year, and the year after that too. We’re hoping this will lead to a kinder and more relaxed festive season all round.

Merry Christmas, one and all.

A year of garden coaching

I’m very excited about my new venture – it’s a way for me to work with more people than I can physically get around to, helping them to make the very best of their gardens in a way that suits the life they lead. If you’d like to find out more, please click here to book for a January 2020 start.
