Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Could this be the year I finally get around to...?
There are so many ways to end that sentence when it comes to my garden. Replacing the cloudy polycarbonate glazing panes in the greenhouse with something that will allow unhindered the passage of more than two photons a year. Sorting out the far end of the garden so there’s a little more structure to the ‘wildlife’ area, which could justifiably, and without a shadow of sentimentality, be renamed ‘Brambly Hedge’. Or – and this is my favourite – move the acanthus from its present spot, from which it reluctantly elevates a miserly pair of flowering spikes each summer from among a prodigious mass of foliage, to a more suitable location. This will be no small undertaking, but I’m feeling the urge to tackle a job long put off.
