Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Thaw day – the snow has been and gone, the snowdrops are in various states of disarray. The single species stubbornly buttoned up and the doubles looking for all the world as though somebody’s sat on them. Which is entirely possible, given the degree of feline delinquency in the neighbourhood and, if that really is the case, I suppose we can be glad that sitting on them is the extent of the insult. I could wish them (the snowdrops, not the cats) a touch more pristine, but still the same green-striped ruffles and crepey ridges, almost as though the gardener’s gnarly hand had left its imprint on the petals. A raggedy kind of beauty.
