Day 74: repotting mat

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

For far too long I’ve been scuffing up the surface of the dining table with my houseplant fettling. It’s not the best recipe for domestic harmony and, particularly in lockdown, no matter how fond you might be of one another, such touch-points are best negotiated with care. This is where a foldable plant repotting mat comes in – I had no idea such a thing existed until last week but, enlightened, I stumped up a few quid for one and can now merrily play about with compost and gravel and water to my heart’s content, with no adverse effects upon the furniture. It’s quite possible that I’m the last person in the world to discover these things, but I’m not going to allow that to spoil the moment.
