Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
The greyness of it. The coldness of it and – to top it all – the dampness. Winkles its icy fingers between every layer of your clothing and freezes you to the marrow, while spoiling the whole point of a dull day at this time of year; namely, to make inroads into the bonfire pile without annoying the neighbours. Anyone would be barking mad to be sitting out on a miserable day like this, let alone hanging out their washing. Sometimes it snows in April – we all know that, but this? Yuck.
Thankfully, the constant chirruping of baby birds in their nests and the frenetic activity of their parents pushes The Grumbling aside. If we can carry on whatever the weather, they seem to say, so can you.
