Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
The advantage of the paeonies being late is that garden time has been concertinaed (yes, there’s an ‘e’ – it looks wrong, doesn’t it? But I did check) and, this year at least, there’s a crossover with the roses. A collision of frills and flounce in the borders, even if the earliest of them are currently across the path from any early rose action. Sarah Bernhardt looks like she will sit happily alongside the rose Gentle Hermione for the next fortnight or so, though Coral Charm is already beginning to drop her petals. Such a short stay each season, every moment to be treasured.
