Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Japanese anemone spotting in another’s garden yesterday. This variety seems a little more compact than those growing in my own borders at about 60-70cm tall, and there’s something about the blend of pinks in its semi-double flowers – from a deep rose to the palest candy – that makes it stand out. There’s no label, and the garden owner’s forgotten, but I’m fairly confident that it’s Amemone x hybrida ‘Pamina’. I think it needs to come and live in my flowerbeds, where it can keep the paler pink ‘Königin Charlotte’ company.
