Day 293: foxglove on a wall

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Plants that are generous with seeding themselves about can divide opinion, particularly when their munificence gets them branded as weeds. I’ve not yet encountered anyone who would lump a foxglove into that bracket, which surprises me, as people get very fussy about plants having the temerity to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. That, after all, is supposed to be the province of we clever primates. But foxgloves can have carte blanche to stick themselves anywhere they like in my garden, and I was delighted to come across this little clump, half way up a stone wall at Great Comp.
