Day 317: Echinacea ‘White Swan’

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Echinacea ‘White Swan’ has got her feet down now, which I was expecting, as an early autumn planting. Pop her in now and take the chance of her making it though the winter (the soil drains well here, should be okay), I thought, back in the last week or so of September. I wasn’t expecting flowers in the second week of November, first just on the terminal bud and then on side shoots. I’m torn between seeing how far they can get before a frost whops them (if we ever see a decent one), and doing what I should do, snipping them off and letting the plant concentrate on its roots.
