Day 325: winter greens

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Almost t-shirt weather in the garden again today, pleasant gardening weather if a little gloomy. My bones are taking some persuading that we’re two weeks away from winter (that’s meteorological winter at the beginning of December, astronomical winter doesn’t begin till after the solstice, just before Christmas). But as the colour fades from so many of our garden plants and even the autumnal hues become more muted, I’m looking to find greenery that will remind me that life goes on. Fresh, evergreen ferns and juvenile ivies fit the bill nicely before we start to embrace the darker greens of the festive season. Failing that, you might find me staring at a bag of sprouts.
