Day 141: a reckoning of tulips

There is to be a reckoning of tulips. Normally everything stays put in the ground and pops up year after year, to greater or lesser effect but, for the first that time I can remember, I’m less than delighted with this spring’s display. My punishment for underestimating the effect lockdown would have on stocks of spring bulbs led to a severely restricted choice when I finally got around to putting in my autumn order, and I’m not sure I’ll be keeping any of the most recent arrivals. This year, I’ll be ordering early.
