Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
The woodland floor is filling out, the volume of Green Stuff growing exponentially by the day just now. Bright green dock and wood avens are the latest to appear and, right at the moment when that verdant monochrome vibe seems to be taking over, little glimpses of pale pink and red catch my eye, spotlit by the sunlight that manages to penetrate the canopy overhead. The flowers belong to herb robert (Geranium robertianum), that friendly, gangly misfit of a plant that almost seems to have been assembled from spare parts, complete with deeply cut, fern-like leaves and long, thin, bright red stems that resemble nothing so much as strawberry liquorice laces.
