Day 144: No Mow May

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

No Mow May is going fabulously in my garden, at least from the lawn’s perspective. Maybe not so much from the point of view of my neighbours, but I think they’ve probably given up wishing for a manicured and well-behaved garden-next-door (I often wonder if people know quite how much much goes into holding a garden at the exact tipping point between “managed” and “chaos” – as usual, I’m sure I just make it look easy). There’s a slight danger that, with the recent rain, I’m going to need a combine harvester to deal with the sward at the end of the month, but it’s worth it for the positive impact on biodiversity. And the pinched look on the neighbours’ faces.
