Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
I’ve had a nagging doubt these past couple of months that something was missing in the garden, without quite being able to put my finger on it. It’s just clicked – that tall, haze of sky blue, courtesy of the bog sage Salvia uliginosa – has gone entirely AWOL from where I’d planted it last year. There should perhaps be some kind of roll call of plants, just to see who’s made it through from one season to the next though, seeing as every plant only reveals its presence at its own appointed time, this would need to be split through the year. Had I noticed the absentees a little earlier,I might have been able to replace them in time but, while it might seem a little late now, I’ll still be scouring the nurseries for replacements.
